Roberts died on January 4, 2021 at 65 years old after a mistaken death announcement from her rep.
The incorrect news of her death was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Her representative, Mike Pingel, told the publication that she collapsed while walking her dogs on Christmas Eve and was admitted to Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, where she died.
Pingel went on to confirm to Tausi Insider that the “Charlie’s Angels” star was alive at that time, but hospitalized in the ICU unit and was “not doing very well.”
“It’s very dire. It’s good news, but, yet, not good news,” Pingel said.
Roberts’ rep also said the mistake was the result of “a miscommunication” between himself, Roberts’ longtime boyfriend, Lance O’Brien, and Cedars-Sinai.
The following day, O’Brien told TMZ that he received a phone call from the hospital at 9 p.m. on January 4 confirming her death.
Roberts left “That ’70s Show” to care for her husband, Barry Roberts, who was diagnosed with a brain disease. Following her departure from the series, Roberts hadn’t appeared in many roles. Her last credited parts were on “Eve” and “Barbershop” in 2005.
